TODAY'S WORD FOR Tuesday, April 02, 2019:
The part of a human that reasons, thinks, feels, wills, perceives and judges. Intellect or understanding.
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
God invites us to use our minds. In Isaiah 1:18 it is written, “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord.” Christ touches every area of our lives. When He touches our minds (Romans 12:2) we are transformed by the renewing of our minds.
We are told in the scripture not to be like a senseless horse or a mule, “which have no understanding” (Psalm 32:9). Mules and horses must be led by bits and bridles. They have no understanding. God has given us a mind with which to reason and to gain understanding. It is with our mind that we understand who God is. God wants us to love Him not just with our minds but with all that we are.
When Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment He replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37
Love is an emotion and comes from the heart. To be a believer, a Christian, is to fall in love with Christ. Have you ever fallen in love without emotion?
Our emotions, however, can vary widely from day to day. The words of Mark 12:30 reads, “all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength” which depicts the completeness of the love we are to have for our Lord and our God. Complete love for the Lord will change us. Paul tells us in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind”, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is -- His good, pleasing and perfect will.
The renewing of our minds is of utmost importance because Satan is constantly flooding our minds with evil and immoral thoughts and desires. God’s Word penetrates right to the core of our moral and spiritual values.
The renewal of the mind is the work of the Holy Spirit. The working of the Holy Spirit in our lives is the result of our faithful and sincere study of God’s Word.
You shall love the Lord with all your heart, your mind, your soul, your mind and your strength is expressed as a commandment and it means we are to love the Lord with our entire being. Remember, not only is it a commandment, but Jesus said it is the FIRST and GREATEST commandment.
Our memory verse for this week is found in John 4:35.
Do you not say, there are still four months and then comes the harvest? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for the harvest.
Help me to be faithful to love with all my heart and to daily renew my mind through the study and meditation on Your Holy Word.
