TODAY'S WORD FOR Thursday, June 20, 2019:

DELIVERER

DefinitionDEFINITION:

Rescuer, liberator, one who gives into another’s possession or keeping.

ScriptureSCRIPTURE:

I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as You know, O Lord. I have not hidden Your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your Salvation; I have not concealed Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness from the great congregation.
Psalm 40:9-10

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Throughout Scripture, we see example after example of the Lord delivering His people from distress and seemingly insurmountable circumstances. He delivered Israel from Pharaoh in the book of Exodus. He delivered the Jews from Haman in the book of Esther. In the book of Zechariah, we read how God will deliver current day Jerusalem from the forces that march against her.

God is our deliverer today. At Calvary, He delivered us from the darkness of sin and brought us into the light of the Kingdom of the Son He loves.

In the verses from Psalm that we put above -- a Psalm of David -- we read that God loves to deliver. He drew us up from the pit and out of the miry clay. He set our feet upon a rock and established our steps. And He put a new song in our mouth, a mighty praise to our God.

Our God is the same God that delivered Daniel from the mouths of hungry lions and delivered Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego from the fiery furnace (Daniel chapter 3 and 6). Whatever insurmountable circumstances, whatever threat, whatever evil scheme, whatever sin entangles you, call upon your “Great Deliverer.”

LEARNINGLEARNING:

Our memory verse this week is found in James 1:22.

But be doers of the Word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

PRAYERPRAYER:

Thank You that You not only are able to deliver me from all my troubles and difficult circumstances, but You desire that I give them to You. Thank You for being my deliverer through the many crises I have faced in life. My prayer is that You will keep my eyes focused on You and seeking Your deliverance in all my trials.
