TODAY'S WORD FOR Friday, June 14, 2019:

To make healthy; restore to health; free from ailment; to free from evil, cleanse and purify.

For I am the Lord who heals you.
Exodus 15:26

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.
I Peter 2:24.

When Moses led the Children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, for the first time in 400 years Israel was free. It was in Israel that they learned so much about God. It was there that He led, provided for, and protected them. And it was there in the wilderness that God began to reveal His true nature to them. It was there that He introduced Himself as -- The Lord that heals you!

One of our key birthrights as a believer in Jesus is that we have access to call upon God for healing. When Jesus walked on this earth, He healed people. Everywhere He went, He healed the sick. Sickness and disease could not survive in the presence of Jesus.

When Jesus went to the cross, He fulfilled a prophecy from Isaiah 53. At the cross, He bore our griefs and He carried our sorrows. He was smitten and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. Chastisement was laid upon Him that we may have peace and by the stripes He received we are healed.

May we remind you what happened at the cross. Death was defeated, sin was atoned for, the effects of the curse unleashed in the fall of man fell fully upon the redeemer, and the benefit of healing was released on behalf of the believer.

When we cry out to the Lord in our trouble, He will save us from our distress. When we are in need, “He will send His Word and heal us” Psalm 107:20. He will not leave us like orphans without hope but He will deliver us, for His delight in answering and healing His children.

Like the Israelites called on God in the wilderness, we can call on God in our situation. Is there sickness or an ailment, disease or discouragement? Out of your wilderness, cry to Him. Let your voice be heard in heaven with your petition. He can still heal. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the Lord that heals!

Our memory verse for this week is found in I Corinthians 3:11.

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Help me to be ready when You move into my life. Help me to give You full access to my soul so You can heal my sin sick heart and restore me to a right relationship with You.
